TBC Joins Launch of “Recycle for Life” Project for the Prostheses Foundation

On October 20, 2022, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, through the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, launched the “Recycle for Life” project to support the Prostheses Foundation. This project aims to enhance waste management from the source, recycle it for societal benefits, and contribute to the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H. The Princess Mother, turning old aluminium cans into “prosthetics.”

The launch of the “Recycle for Life” project for the Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H. The Princess Mother is a project designed to encourage the public to recycle used aluminium drink cans, converting them into valuable support for the Foundation’s operations. This collaboration involves 9 agencies from government, private sectors, and industry groups, including the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, the Pollution Control Department, the Prostheses Foundation, the 3R Foundation, the Thai Beverage Industry Association, Thai Beverage Can Limited, Thai Beverage Recycling Co., Ltd., the BJC Big C Group, and the Wongpanit Suvarnabhumi Recycle Station Co., Ltd.

The goal is to collect 1,800,000 used aluminium cans for recycling. The project’s approach includes increasing awareness activities for interested participants and campaigning for the public to sort used aluminium cans, educating about aluminium material donations, and expanding donation channels for greater public access. Additionally, collecting aluminium for recycling through a network of collectors can transform it into monetary value at the purchasing price, supporting the procurement of equipment and expenses for prosthetic production and the operations of the foundation in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess.

This event is a key collaboration between the government, private sector, entrepreneurs, and consumers to manage waste from the outset, use resources efficiently for maximum benefit, encourage recycling, and raise awareness in society, leading to the creation of a shared recycling community. Everyone can start by prioritizing the use of eco-friendly packaging, involving packaging manufacturers, product makers, consumers, and recyclers to conserve the country’s natural resources and environment, changing lifestyles to minimize environmental impact. Additionally, it seeks cooperation from all citizens as consumers to collect used aluminium drink cans, converting them into funds to support the operations of the foundation in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess. – Mr. Somsak Sappakosolkul, Director-General of the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, concluded.
