TBC Participates in the Seminar on the Summary of the Low-Carbon Industry Development Project Under the BCG Economy Model Strategy Towards Net Zero
On 22 August 2024, Thai Beverage Can Ltd. (TBC) participated in the seminar summarizing the achievements of the “Low-Carbon Industry Development Project Under the BCG Economy Model Strategy Towards Net Zero.” The event was organized by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO) in collaboration with VgreenKU, the Center of Excellence for Eco-Friendly Business Strategies under the Faculty of Environment, Kasetsart University. The seminar was held in the Pra Siva Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Asawin Grand Convention Hotel.
The seminar presented the outcomes of the project, which aims to promote the development of a low-carbon industry in line with the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Economy Model. The initiative supports the transition towards Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions and showcases the project’s success.
TBC was among the organizations selected to participate in this project. On 1 March 2024, Mr. Bancha Danguthai, TBC Senior Engineering Manager, attended the declaration of intent to join the project. This was an opportunity to present TBC’s vision and set goals for its role in the initiative. The project focuses on building capacity and disseminating knowledge to industrial organizations for assessing and managing greenhouse gas emissions across the supply chain. It promotes the production of circular economy products through mechanisms such as Circular Economy-Carbon Footprint Product (CE-CFP) certification. Additionally, the initiative includes the development of best practices for applying the BCG Economy Model to achieve Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero GHG Emissions.
The relevant personnel from TBC received training and consulting from Associate Professor Dr. Rattanawan Mungkung, Director of VGREEN, on 20 March 2024. The training covered topics such as emissions assessment, setting short-, medium-, and long-term emission reduction targets, applying the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) concept for emissions reduction, evaluating the emissions reduction achieved through BCG projects, and selecting products for CE-CFP labeling. In addition, on 25 July 2024, Ms. Waleethip Prommobol, TBC Sustainability Project Lead, participated in a seminar titled “Driving NET ZERO with the BCG Strategy for the Agriculture, Food, Plastics, and Packaging Industries.” She shared practical experiences on applying the BCG Economy Model to greenhouse gas management strategies to drive NET ZERO targets.
From the journey of implementation to today’s success, the participating organizations gained significant knowledge to adapt and develop into low-carbon industries. As part of the recognition, TGO awarded the “BEST BCG ECONOMY MODEL” plaques to six organizations that participated in the project, with TBC being one of the recipients. Ms. Kitiya Santaveesuk, TBC Head of Sustainability, delivered a speech highlighting TBC’s success in applying the BCG Economy Model to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing towards achieving the company’s NET ZERO target by 2050.
