TBC Joins the “Preparing Export Products for the EU to Handle CBAM Measures” Project

On 5 February 2024, TBC announced its commitment to join the “Preparing Export Products for the EU to Handle CBAM Measures” project.

The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) is preparing Thai entrepreneurs, including those in the steel, cement, electricity, fertilizer, aluminium, paper, ceramics, glass, plastic, hydrogen, and chemical sectors, to enhance their capabilities and disseminate knowledge to exporters. This preparation is for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) measures, which is the EU’s initiative to adjust carbon prices before crossing its borders. TGO is also developing a digital platform to serve as a tool for calculating Embedded Emissions, which will help in assessing and reporting to the EU according to CBAM measures. Additionally, experts will conduct practical training and provide consultation to develop appropriate greenhouse gas reduction frameworks for various export industries.

The event featured the declaration of commitment to the project by 16 participating organizations. There were also presentations on the EU’s CBAM measures and the introduction of the “Preparing Export Products for the EU to Handle CBAM Measures” project by Mr. Pathom Chaiyapruksaton, Senior Manager of the TGO’s Low Carbon Business Certification Office, and Associate Professor Dr.Vorapot Kanokkantapong, a lecturer from the Environmental Science Department, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.
